Fr. Dave's Take On It: 9/17/17
Reflections from an old golfer…We had a power outage this morning at our house and my PC, laptop, TV, DVD, iPad, and my new surround sound music system were all shut down. Then I discovered that my mobile phone battery was dead. To top it off, it was horribly hot outside, so I couldn’t play golf. So I went into the kitchen to make coffee and then I remembered that this also needs power, so I sat and talked to my wife for a couple of hours. You know, she seems like a very nice person.
We are a parish of thousands of nice persons and thus, next weekend, we will gather together at the Ice Center for Mass, mostly just in order to get all of these nice persons together in one place at one time to praise God for the blessings that have been given to each of us individually and all of us as a community. Some of us would prefer to appreciate this niceness from a distance and in each one’s favorite church building, but the Vision 2020 committee and others decided to give this a try—just this once.
The following weekend, when we are back to our regular scheduled Masses in our three churches, we would like to continue the feeling of community and closeness by asking a favor of some of you. To those who typically prefer to worship from the choir loft or the side chapel at Waldo, would you consider joining the rest of us in the body of the church? Outside of Christmas and Easter, when we need those areas for overflow seating, it’s nice to have everyone together in the same space. So, please consider that, and blessings on our gathering next weekend and all of our future gatherings to praise and serve our God!
One in community and communion,
