Truth and Light


Brian H. Smith holds the Charles and Joan Van Zoeren Chair in Religion, Ethics  and Values and is Professor of Religion at Ripon College. He is also interim co-director of Ripon College’s Center for Politics and the People.
His advanced degrees are in Political Science Theology and Ethics. He has done research in Latin America, including Chile and Colombia, on religion and politics and the role of nongovernmental organizations in socioeconomic development.
He has taught at Fordham University in New York, Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA.
He has been teaching at Ripon College since 1987, offering courses in comparative world religions, the Christian Scriptures, history of Christian theology and ethics, comparative religious ethics, religion and politics in global perspective, and ethics and international affairs.  He is a member of St. Raphael the Archangel Parish in Oshkosh.
