There were two elderly gentlemen who went on their daily walk when one of them said, “I got a new hearing aid this weekend. Four thousand dollars but it works just great.” His friend said to him, “What kind is it?” The first gentleman, glancing at his watch, replies, “12:30.”

The lad in the Gospel this weekend hears the voice of Jesus within and on the hillside and decides to offer his lunch when the large crowd was hungry. Like Andrew, I’m sure he thought, “What’s my lunch going to do to feed all these people?” But Jesus can take even a very meager gift and use it to make a huge difference. So let us never think that what we have to offer is too minimal to matter; rather, let us do what we can to change the world.  As we celebrate our Mission Weekend, let us welcome those disciples sent to us and let us share our gifts to help feed the ...
